Announcing Fall RPCV Events

SEAPAX and the Seattle Peace Corps Recruiting Office are working together to offer several special events for RPCVs in September and October 2009. Hope you can join us for some or all!

1) Making Your Transition Smooth: RPCV Resources Seminar for recently-returned RPCVs.

Returning to the U.S. can be a stressful time for new RPCVs — the job hunt, reverse culture shock, and re-settling, among many things. The Peace Corps Northwest Regional Office in Seattle wants to help ease your transition:

RPCV Resources Seminar
Tuesday, September 22
3 to 5 p.m.

Peace Corps Northwest Regional Office
1601 Fifth Avenue, Suite 605 | Seattle, WA 98101
Located in Westlake Center

Topics to be discussed include career benefits and resources provided by the Peace Corps, graduate school options, and opportunities to share your Peace Corps story. Also, if you have a photo of you during service you’d like to contribute to the Peace Corps Volunteers in Action Board, feel free to bring that too.

Registration for this event closed on Sept.15,  so please check to see if there are any remaining slots: or 206.553.5490

2) The Fun Continues at an RPCV Social

All work and no play is no life for a RPCV. Meet other RPCVs in the Seattle area at a social hosted by SEAPAX, the local RPCV group, immediately following the Resources Seminar:

3) Share Your Peace Corps Story

While some friends and family may grow tired of your Peace Corps stories, there are many groups, organizations and classes who want to hear all about your Peace Corps service. But how do you fit two years of experiences into a short presentation? That’s where we can help you:

9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Klondike Gold Rush Museum
319 2nd Ave S

In addition to obtaining free presentation materials and software, participants will learn how to select key stories and photos, present a balanced and honest view of Peace Corps service, provide up-to-date and accurate information about the application process, and speak comfortably in front of an audience.

Space is limited so please RSVP by October 1: or 206.239.6603
