50th Peace Corps Anniversary Events Coming Soon to Both Washingtons- Part I

The National Peace Corps Association will be holding a series of  special events for 50th on September 21-25 in Washington, D.C.   The dates were selected to commemorate the signing of the Peace Corps Act in Congress by President  Kennedy on September 22, 2011 .

All events are free ( except for Gala on Saturday night)  and open to the Peace Corps community. Reservation are requested and can be on the NPCA 50th website, which contains full program details. A number of Country of Service groups (for past and present  PC countries) will be having events during the weekend as well; check the NPCA official 50th calendar for listings.

Here is what is planned:

  • Thursday – National Peace Corps Association Advocacy Day with members of Congress
  • Friday – National Peace Corps Association Service Day to work in community service projects throughout the city
  • Saturday – National Peace Corps Association Open Annual Meeting, Group Leaders Forum and Board of Directors Meeting
  • Saturday – Global Community Project Competition and Conversations:  The Future of the Peace Corps
  • Saturday – National Peace Corps Association’s The Promise of the Peace Corps Gala ( the only fee event )
  • Sunday – RPCV/W Arlington Cemetery Special 50th Program
  • Sunday – National Peace Corps Association’s Peace Festival
