Ramadan is the holiest month on the Islamic calendar and Muslims around the world observe this time by fasting, praying and reflecting. It is a time of spiritual renewal and improvement. The act of fasting is meant to teach self-discipline, sacrifice and empathy for those who are less fortunate, thereby enriching our sense of community and encouraging actions of generosity and charity.
The best way to celebrate the holy month is to break the fast (iftar) with family and friends, so come share this special experience with SEAPAX members and friends who are Muslim or have served in Muslim countries! An Iftar Potluck will be held at the home of Lillian Baer, 2502 25th Ave. W., Seattle, 98119 on Saturday, July 20, at 8 pm (sunset is about 9 pm).
Please bring food to share. Traditional break fast foods or dishes from your country of service are welcome!
