SEAPAX Service Event June 28 at Marra Farm

Volunteer at Solid Ground’s Giving Garden!

Join SEAPAX on Saturday, June 28th  from  10 am – 2 pm for our next community service event, at Solid Ground’s Lettuce Link Giving Garden at Marra Farm (South Park Neighborhood, 9026 4th Ave S, Seattle). We will be getting our hands dirty weeding, planting, and composting .  Solid Ground was a 2013 recipient of a SEAPAX Small Grant for its food security programs.

Solid Ground’s Lettuce Link program cultivates Seattle’s urban land in order to feed hungry people healthy food and to teach and empower low-income people to grow their own healthy fresh vegetables. Lettuce Link’s Giving Garden at Marra Farm grows 16,000-22,000 pounds of fresh, organic and culturally-appropriate produce each year to donate to local food banks in South Park and Beacon Hill.

Tools and gloves will be provided. Dress in layers, wearing weather-appropriate clothing (raingear, hat, etc.) and sturdy shoes that can get muddy. Long sleeves and pants can protect you from the sun and prickly plants. Don’t forget your lunch, snacks, and a water bottle!

Please contact Laurel Saito at servicechair@seapax.org to RSVP.  Directions and bus routes to Marra Farm
